Education VP Candidate

Stronger Together at USW

Why are you standing in the SU Elections?

I’m standing in the elections because I genuinely care about the student experience at USW, and I want to help create a community where every student feels heard, supported, and proud to be part of this university.

Over my time here, I’ve seen how much the Students’ Union can impact students’ lives, whether that’s through support, opportunities, or simply making people feel like they belong. But I’ve also spoken to students who feel disconnected or unsure how to make their voices heard. I want to change that.

I’m standing for vice president because I want to represent students honestly and make sure your concerns turn into real action, not just promises. I want to help improve communication between students and the Union, create more opportunities for involvement, and ensure that every student, regardless of their background, course, or year, feels included.

This role isn’t just a title to me. It’s a responsibility to listen, advocate, and make a positive difference. I’m motivated by the chance to give back to a community that has given me so much and to help make USW the best possible experience for every student.

If elected, what are your three priorities you want to focus on during your time in office?

If elected, my three key priorities will be expanding opportunities for international students, strengthening sustainability initiatives, and building a more inclusive and enjoyable community for disabled students.

I want to ensure international students have greater access to career opportunities, social integration, and tailored support. I will push for practical sustainability actions across campus that students can actively engage with. Most importantly, I will work to improve accessibility, representation, and social inclusion for disabled students, ensuring university life is not just accessible but truly enjoyable and empowering for everyone.

What do you see as your biggest strength and biggest weakness and why?

My biggest strength is my leadership and energy. I naturally take initiative, motivate others, and stay committed to achieving goals. I bring enthusiasm into everything I do, which helps engage people and create a positive, productive environment.

My biggest weakness is that I can sometimes talk too much, especially when I’m passionate about something. However, I’ve been actively improving by focusing on listening more carefully and making sure others have the space to share their ideas. This has helped me become a more balanced leader who values collaboration as much as contribution.
