Activities VP Candidate

More access, more action, more USW

Why are you standing in the SU Elections?

I am standing in the Elections because I see strong potential for the Students’ Union to offer more engaging, inclusive, and impactful activities for students. As the current Sports Officer, I have firsthand experience of how student led activities can build community and enhance the student experience. I also hold a leadership position within one of the largest societies at USW, giving me insight into organising events and representing diverse student interests. As a law student, I have developed strong advocacy and communication skills, which allow me to confidently represent students and their needs. I believe my experience and commitment make me well placed to deliver positive change as VP Activities.

If elected, what are your three priorities you want to focus on during your time in office?

  • My first priority will be to ensure fair and consistent access to sports facilities, including Fit zone, for all sports clubs, societies, and general students.
  • My second priority will be to expand opportunities by increasing the number of tournaments, sports events, and volunteering roles available to students, encouraging wider participation and engagement.
  • My third priority will be to strengthen support for our sports teams by improving preparation, coordination, and organisation ahead of Varsity 2027, while ensuring events are well managed and inclusive for everyone involved.

What do you see as your biggest strength and biggest weakness and why?

My biggest strength is my ability to identify gaps and transform them into meaningful opportunities for students. I am proactive in recognising what can be improved within student activities and enjoy creating practical solutions that bring people together. My biggest weakness, in a positive way, is that I am highly detail oriented. While this can sometimes slow decision making, it ensures activities are carefully planned, inclusive, and deliver a high quality experience for everyone involved.
