Update regarding the Cardiff SU Space for the remainder of the academic year.
USWSU is here to support you with great spaces across all USW campuses, including our Cardiff home, the Tafarn SU Bar.
Over the last few years, fewer students have been using the Cardiff space on a daily basis. Because of this drop in footfall, particularly during the current academic year, we’ve had to take a realistic look at how the space is performing and what’s the best experience for our students long‑term.
After reviewing everything, we’ve decided it’s time to pause, rethink, and come back with a refreshed offer that better fits what Cardiff students want.
This means that from 1st February, daily bar and catering services will be temporarily unavailable, until further notice.
But don’t worry—USWSU is still very much present and active on the Cardiff campus.
- Your Sabbatical Officers and Management Team will continue to be on campus every week to offer advice, support and a friendly face.
- The space will stay open as a safe place to socialise, study, hang out with friends, or work together on projects.
- Bar and catering services will still be available for SU events, student group activities, and University community events.
As we begin this refresh, we’d love to hear your ideas on how the space could evolve to better support you, now and in the future. For example, the darts facilities at our Treforest campus have been a huge hit—so they’re something we could explore for Cardiff too.
