Nominations for the 2026 Leadership Race have now opened!

Want to enhance your CV? Possibly looking to be part of the collective voice of USW students? One of our Student Leader roles could be for you.

We have a range of Full-Time and Part-Time roles that YOU can make a difference in.

If you’re about to finish your studies and not sure what’s next, or you want to take a year break from your studies you can look at running for a sabbatical role (SU President, VP Education, VP Activities or VP Welfare). You can lead the organisation into the next Academic Year and represent thousands of students.

OR

Are you looking for something flexible that you can do alongside your studies? Gain experience and gain a deeper understanding of the voice structure within the University and Students’  Union? Then a Part-Time role may be the next step for you.

I’m interested, how do I stand?

If you would like to stand for a position in the election head over to https://www.uswsu.com/studentvoice/elections/ and fill out all of the relevant items under ‘Candidate Forms’. You may want to additionally prepare answers to the questions on the Candidate Profile form which will form part of the Union’s promotion of candidates and will include prompts that will be used on the candidate booklet - so make yourself stand out!

Nominations close on Friday 27th of February at 1pm!

How else can you get involved?

You don’t have to stand in the election to get involved! Potential candidates may ask you to support their nomination to stand, or they may ask you to form part of their campaign team where you’ll be their #1 supporters on the ground across campus encouraging fellow students to get involved and vote too!

But most importantly, how you can get involved is by voting. This is your Union, you have the choice of who leads it.

Voting will open on the 9th of March at 9am and run until Friday 13th March at 5pm.

Recommend a Student

Think someone may be a great fit to be a student leader but just need that little bit of encouragement, you can recommend them using our Recommend a Student feature on the elections page! Simply put their name, student ID, what role you think they’d be great at and why you think they’d be great for it. Once we receive that information, we’ll give them that extra nudge to consider standing.
