What is BUCS?

British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK. Through BUCS, student athletes represent the University of South Wales in competitive leagues, cups and championship events against universities from across the country.

Competing in BUCS is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team environment while studying at USW.

How do I get Involved?

As a USW student, you can get involved in BUCS through two pathways:

Participate in a BUCS Team Sport

The Union supports a number of team sports in BUCS where there is a sports club affiliated with the Union to support the team. We hold BUCS trials at the start of the academic year for all our BUCS sports. Successful participants must then pay the Competitive Team Sports Fee of £145.00 and attend mandatory sports participant training.

Participate as an Individual BUCS Entry

If you are an athlete at a high enough level, you can enter into BUCS individual competitions for a range of sports such as archery, swimming and weightlifting. Individuals must pay for all fees including competition registration and transport arrangements. The Union will support with the co-ordination of the administration of entries.
