Last week, half our players shipped off to 4 different universities to represent USW, while 3 others stayed on home ground to show our competitors what we’re made of.
Match Results
Football Women’s 1s
Making the furthest journey of the day was Football Women’s 1s, who travelled to Exeter to play against their Women’s 2s, but unfortunately walking away with a 13-0 defeat to Exeter. They will be having their second head-to-head on the 9th December on our home grounds at Sports Park.

Just stepping outside of the Welsh border was Badminton Open 2s, travelling to Glouchestershire to play against their Open 1s. It was a super close match, ending in 5-3 to Gluchestershire with all three losing rubbers going to the 3rd game. Unfortunately, there won’t be another game against Gloucestershire Open 1s on the table this year.
Netball Women’s 1s
Staying in Wales but travelling west was Netball Women’s 1s against Swansea Women’s 2s on their home ground. After an intense match, the results landed on 57-30 to Swansea, but the team can pull it back in their second head-to-head on 20th January on our home grounds in Sports Park.

After a really intense and close 8 matches, Aberystwyth managed to walk away with 5 rubbers to USW’s 3, and will be playing again against Aberystwyth Women’s 1s in only a few weeks on the 25th November!
Hockey Women’s 1s
Kicking things off on the ATP at Sports Park were Hockey Women’s 1s playing against Cardiff Met Women’s 5s. Unfortunately, Cardiff Met scored a goal early on in the first half, but did not manage to take any more points during the rest of the game! The girls fended them off throughout the second half, but didn’t manage to overtake their score, leaving the end result as 0-1 to Cardiff Met. There will not be a second game between these two teams, so Cardiff Met have got away with it this time.
