What are the Roles?
Full-Time Sabbatical Officers
The four full-time officers representing your interests at the highest level. Each role looks after a specified portfolio and ensures your needs are met.
Student Voice Representatives (SVRs)
SVRs sit on Student Council and represent your interests across University committees. They are key decision-makers in the Union’s policy-making processes.
Part-Time Officers
Part-Time Officers represent specific student demographics while holding Full-Time Officers to account at Officer Advisory Group.

What are the Elections?
The Elections (or SU Leadership Race / By-elections) are held annually to decide who will form the officer team for the next academic year.
When are the Elections happening?
The 2026 Elections run throughout Term Two. Nominations open 26 January and close 27 February at 13:00.
What positions can I run for?
A wide range of Full-Time and Part-Time roles are available, including President, VP Welfare, VP Activities, and VP Education.
How can I stand?
To stand, you must complete the necessary forms. Full-Time roles require six supporting students — one proposer and five seconders.

If I become a candidate, what do I have to do?
Candidates must attend a briefing, participate in filming, and campaign across campuses to encourage votes.
Who is RON?
RON (Re-Open Nominations) allows students to reject all candidates. If elected, the election is rerun without previous candidates.
What happens if roles aren’t filled?
Vacancies may lead to by-elections or co-option in the following academic year.
