Role: Information Team

Location: Treforest

Hours: Flexible hours. Information Desks open Mon - Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm. Term time only.

We are looking for engaging and passionate students to join our brilliant Information Team.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Keep the Information Desk tidy and presentable with all necessary material 
  • Greet and welcome guests to the Students' Union
  • Answer questions and address complaints
  • Answer all incoming calls and redirect them or keep messages
  • Receive letters, packages etc. and distribute them
  • Prepare outgoing mail by drafting correspondence, securing parcels etc.
  • Check, sort and forward emails
  • Process TOTUM/NUS Extra card applications 
  • Operate the till following set procedures ensuring integrity of cash and stock at all times
  • Social media content creation 
  • Support the different departments across the Students’ Union with their communication requirements, as and when required.
  • Any other tasks that would be deemed suitable within this role as directed by your line manager

 

 
Skills Desired

To be successful in this role you will need to have a friendly and confident manner with strong communication and people skills. You will need to be approachable but also be a hub of information for both students and guests visiting the Students’ Union. Ideally, you will be in your second or third year of studies and familiar with your campus and the way the Union and University operate. An interest in social media and an ability to write copy (to a high standard of written English) will be looked upon favourably. Ultimately, this is a role where you have the opportunity to engage with the student body, communicate the values of the Students’ Union whilst developing your resume credentials.


Staff are expected to portray a positive image, both internally and externally of the Students' Union by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness and professionalism. All staff are expected to assist in key events throughout the year e.g. Freshers' and any other key events, including elections, if necessary.
