IMPROVEMENTS TO TIMETABLING

THE IDEA

Students wanted to see timetabling improve, particularly to have shorter gaps between lectures.

ACTION

  • The Education Officer and the SU President will meet with Timetabling to discuss this feedback.

UPDATE

SEPTEMBER 6TH

  • The comments were raised with the Timetabling Manager who explained that they do their best to make timetables as convenient as possible for all students. However, they are restricted by staff availability and meetings, as well as the different campuses. They will continue to try to make timetables as streamlined as possible.

WHAT YOU SAID

"Timetabling - overfilled rooms, huge time gaps, long distance between rooms."

"Fewer 4-hour gaps between classes or back to back long days."

"Not having one-hour lectures on one day."

"Room allocation - why do we never have rooms big enough?."

"Classes put into one day instead of having days of the week with just one class. Travelling to campus just for one hour often seems like a waste."

HOW IT WORKS

1. Students submit ideas during Change Week.

2. Teams of students gather to hack solutions to the biggest problems.

3. Teams pitch their ideas to a panel of University big wigs.

4. SU Officers and teams work with staff to make the ideas a reality.
