MORE NETWORKING EVENTS


 

THE IDEA

Students wanted more networking events to help them boost their chances of employability after graduating.

 

ACTION

  • Careers have requested to propose a Student Voice Representative project for next academic year to see if a student can gather feedback about what information they would like to receive from Careers during each year of their studies, to ensure all communication is relevant and helpful.

 

UPDATE

SEPTEMBER 6TH

  • Careers will be providing a Student Voice Representative research project brief to further understand students' feedback. 

  

OCTOBER 31ST

  • A Student Voice Representative (Ceri Olsen, SVR for Psychology and Therapeutic Studies 19/10), who was on this team has decided to pick up the Careers research brief for this academic year.

 

NOVEMBER 5TH

  • The Education Officer will contact the Careers Graduate Intern to discuss this feedback further.
  • For Cardiff Campus, there are events called Create and Collaborate is a networking event run by USW Careers. It is an opportunity for USW students from various creative industry courses and creative industry professionals to come together and pitch new ideas and opportunities. It often takes place in the SU Zen Bar and is a great opportunity to discover what projects are going on in the local area and how to get involved with them.

 

NOVEMBER 19TH

  • The Education Officer met with the Careers Graduate Intern on the 15th of November to discuss more networking opportunities for students from the Careers team. It was explained that the Careers team are working with students have more networking opportunities with employers and to start communicating better with students about the right things, at the right time. Currently, the team is in the data analysis stage, so they are gathering feedback and identifying key points in the year to communicate with students in terms of their career progression.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Students submit ideas during Change Week.

2. Teams of students gather to hack solutions to the biggest problems.

3. Teams pitch their ideas to a panel of University big wigs.

4. SU Officers and teams work with staff to make the ideas a reality.
