TRIGGER WARNINGS: Please note that the following message contains mention of rape and sexual assault.
We want to thank students who came to us with concerns over some screenshots that have been shared across social media concerning Saturday 24th April.
We want to first reassure you that there is no evidence that these reports are genuine, but whether or not this is a “hoax from Tiktok” - we feel the need to address it and reassure our students.
South Wales Police’s Cardiff Student Liaison team are aware of the potential link to Cardiff and are “working with social media companies to remind them of their duty to remove potentially harmful videos of this nature from their platforms.
Anyone with information or concerns should report them to the police either online or by calling 101. In an emergency always call 999.”
Violence or threats of violence serve no place at the University of South Wales, nor at USW’s Students’ Union, and we hope that our student body also believes this due to their choice to study and learn with us. If students are found to be involved with this behaviour, the University’s Student Conduct Procedure will be followed.
We know that some may be worried or may have been triggered by what you’ve heard, so we wanted to let you know of the support that is available to you if you need to access it.
Your USWSU Officer Team.
